City school celebrates I-Day in advance

SHILLONG: Mother’s School celebrated Independence Day in advance on Saturday at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture (SAIIC) auditorium with a variety programme performed by the students of the school.
The day started with an opening song performed by the teachers of the school.
A play by the students of pre-nursery class on the theme from a Bollywood movie, Taare Zameen Par was one of the major attractions of the celebration.
Students of Nursery and KG classes presented other dance programme. A traditional Khasi and Bihu dance were also displayed.
A duet and group songs by selected students of the school were other attractions of the day.
Go as you Like and a poem recitation by Declan Lanong was preceded by the speech from the principal of Mother’s School Anita Bahttacharya.
The function concluded with the national anthem.
