TURA: Pandemonium took place in the busy hours of the day at Tura super market on Saturday evening after a mentally challenged man rushed around aggressively wielding a dagger.
The 32-year-old man from Rengsipara area of Dalu town, identified as Jibulin A Sangma, was moving in the market shouting aggressively and wielding a sharp dao threatening anyone who tried to come in his way.
As fear and panic spread among shoppers, police was alerted and a quick response team from Tura police station was rushed in to the site. The police team was able to overpower the dao wielding man before anyone could get hurt. However, one of the police personnel did sustain a minor injury during the scuffle.
Both accused and the injured policeman were taken to hospital for medical examination and the former was later placed in safe custody.
