TURA: With an aim to check influx of outsiders into the region, several organizations from Tikrikilla along with Nokmas, Gaonburas and local leaders have come up with a number of resolutions to be strictly followed.

The resolutions were taken in a meeting jointly organised by the Indigenous Forum for Peace Welfare and Empowerment (IFPWE), a body of combined traditional heads and the A’chik Youth Council in which, other organizations like the AYWO, AIJIF, ASWA, GHSMC, FAF, AAYF, GSU Chibinang as well as representatives from different villages and officials of the police department attended.

During the meeting it was decided that no Nokma or Gaonbura shall provide any documents to any new face or issue any blank pads with seal and signatures to anyone. Traditional heads of different villages have also been prohibited from endorsing any transfer, lease, mortgage of any kind of land to those who are not known in the village.

Headmen as well as villagers have been prohibited from sheltering any unknown faces in the village including allowing work to traders or labourers for long durations without valid documents and IDs.

Owners of Arecanut and other plantations were directed not to allow any trader to make fake agreement or lease in exchange for Motorcycles, house constructions etc. All village headmen have been entrusted the responsibility to check new faces and to report them to the concerned authorities immediately.

It was also resolved to petition the DC, SDO, BDO, CDPO and any other officers to cross check the credibility and authenticity of any supporting documents while issuing any, EPICS, documents or certificates or any other facilities.

The conduct of awareness programmes in villages under the plain belt region on the issue of fallout post NRC final publication in Assam is also being mooted.

As a step towards preventing crimes against women and children, relatives of such crime victims have been directed not to come to a compromise with the accused or his family members.
