Birth anniv
The celebration of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary is postponed due to seven-day mourning declared by the State Government after the demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Rabindranath Tagore Club in collaboration with Laban Bengalee Boys’ L. P. School will celebrate Tagore’s birth anniversary as well as the prize distribution ceremony of 11th Inter Shillong Cultural Event at U – Soso Tham Auditorium at 2:30 pm on Sunday. MLA Sanbor Shullai will be the chief guest and Ricky Shullai will be the guest of honour.

Condolence
The Central Puja Committee condoled the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who breathed his last on Thursday. The committee deeply mourns the death of Bharat Ratna recipient and prays for eternal peace of his noble soul.

Eid-Ul-Azha
The Eid-Ul-Azha congregational prayer will be held at Mohammadia-Al-Hussainee Masjid, Nongsohphoh, Barapathar in the city at 8 am on August 22. The prayer will be led by Janab Qaiser Raza, Imam of the Masjid.

Art competition
Zenith Jubelieth Club will hold the all Shillong Krishna Das Paul Choudhury memorial art competition at Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School on Sunday. The participants should report at the venue at 10 am.

Workshop
A workshop was organised for the pre-primary teachers by Orient Blackswan Private Limited at the Don Bosco Youth Center, Laitumkhrah on August 10. The theme of the workshop was “Early childhood care and education.” 33 schools participated in the programme.

Meeting
A general body meeting of the Cantonment Board, Employees’ Union, Shillong, will be convened for re-construction of the executive body meeting on the premises of Cantonment Board School, Shillong at 3 pm on August 20.

Fitness camp
Taal Academy will organise a fitness camp in aid of cancer awareness at Crinoline Swimming Pool, Malki from 10 am onwards on August 19.
