Shylla case to come up after two weeks James withdraws, Grace pursues

SHILLONG: The first petitioner, MDC James Ban Basaiawmoit, who filed a case against the election of KHADC CEM H S Shylla, withdrew it on Wednesday while another MDC, Grace Mary Kharpuri, decided to pursue the matter.
The case will again come up for hearing after two weeks.
The petition challenging the election of Shylla came up for hearing before the single bench of the High Court of Meghalaya headed by Judge SR Sen.
Basaiawmoit, through his lawyer, filed an application for withdrawal of his case which was allowed by the court.
The matter related to the writ petition filed by Kharpuri also came up for hearing on Wednesday.
Senior Advocate SS Dey assisted by M V Kynta appeared on behalf of Shylla.
Dey is also representing 16 other MDCs, who wished to be made respondents.
However, the High Court adjourned the case to be taken up after two weeks.
While K Paul appeared on behalf of the petitioner, Advocate General Amit Kumar represented the state government.
Senior Advocate VGK Kynta appeared on behalf of KHADC.
Advocates F Nongbri and A Kharwanlang were for other respondents.
