SHILLONG: Staff nurse on duty from Smit PHC referred a pregnancy case with prolonged labour to another center. However, the patient went into labour pain en route at Madanriting. EMT Markiecha Marbaniang of 108 Smit Based ambulance conducted the delivery and a healthy baby boy was born in the ambulance. Both mother and child were shifted to Ganesh Das Hospital and are doing fine.
Meanwhile, many were injured in accidents over the weekend.
Thores Kurbah (56) sustained spinal injury when he was hit by a vehicle at Mawlai Nongmali near FCI around 5 pm on Saturday evening. Pre-hospital care was provided and he was shifted to NEIGRIHMS by Shillong Civil based 108 ambulance.
Saibor Kharkongngor (35) from Mylliem was stabbed in the abdomen by his brother-in-law on sunday. Wound care and first aid was administered after which the victim was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong by Sohiong based 108 ambulance.
In another accident, Jiran Sing Kharbuki (52) sustained shoulder injury when a vehicle hit him at Umjajew main road around 2.39 pm on Sunday. The victim was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong by 108 ambulance.
Promity Ch Marak (38) was injured at the steering wheel of the car she was driving when she applied brake to avoid collision with another car that appeared suddenly at Mawlai Mawiong Main Road junction on Sunday evening. The victim was bleeding from the nose. After first aid, the victim was shifted to Civil Hospital by 108 ambulance.
Sengran Momin (19) was hit and run over by a vehicle at Jorabat opposite CMJ University around 6.30 pm on Sunday evening. Wound care was done and victim shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital by Brynihat based 108 ambulance for further treatment.
Fire incident
On Sunday afternoon, a fire broke out at SS Mall opposite Broadway Hotel in Police Bazar, and reported to 108 Emergency Response Center. Bara Bazaar Fire Service was informed and dispatched to control the fire. No injuries have been reported.
