NGO holds cleaning drive in city

SHILLONG: With an aim to promote the message of cleanliness among the masses, 75 volunteers from Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) undertook a cleanliness drive at the Keating Road in the city on Sunday.
The drive drew support and appreciation.
The volunteers collected the garbage and swept the entire area of the Keating road clean, and spread the awareness on cleanliness and eco friendly practices.
Various office bearers of Keating road area including Ram sevak, JP Singh, Arvind Yadav, Umesh Kumar and Bornali Hazarika were the guests at the inauguration of the event.
SantNiranakari Mandai’s Jorhat based Zonal In-charge Jadu Kalita in his message said, “Social endeavours like cleanliness, tree plantation and blood donation etc by the volunteers of SNCF will continue in the future to guide and motivate people to join such noble causes. Our aim is to regard oneness of humanity on the principle of unity in diversity and to demonstrate that our happiness in the society is strongly interdependent”.
Considering the long term effects, people have to take ownership of their
environment, he said, adding that when people understand their role and responsibilities towards a clean environment, such spirited endeavours can take place.
