SHILLONG: The 1st Annual NEIGRIHMS UGCON – a national medical undergraduate conference – for MBBS and BDS students from all over India was held at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) over a three day period from August 17 to 19.
The objective of the conference is to provide a platform for future medical professionals to explore the world of medical science with a whole new perspective. More than 200 participants from all over the India registered for the event.
From acquiring a virtual dissection table which is present only in two other medical institutes in India, to winning the Kayakalp Award twice in a row, NEIGRIHMS is set to redefine the boundaries of excellence.
The conference consisted of seven highly interactive workshops pertaining to an undergraduate’s skills: basic life support (BLS) conducted by American Heart Association (AHA), basic surgical skills, hands on training at the virtual dissection table, handling medico legal cases in daily practice, igniting young minds to research, breast feeding and midwifery; and essentials for MBBS: Case Discussions.
These were presided over by esteemed faculties from different colleges across India. Panel discussions were also conducted on burning topics like depression and drug abuse and on possible options after completion of MBBS to widen the horizon for undergrads.
Participants were also given the opportunity of interacting with prestigious delegates from top notch institutes of India.
