Dr Someswar Baruah passes away

SHILLONG: Dr. Someswar Baruah, who was a resident of Lachumiere, passed away due to old age ailments in Guwahati on Monday. He was 93.
Baruah was known for his philanthropic activities and rendered medical help to those in need. Initially he was with the Assam government and was the Governor’s physician in Shillong. He retired as the District Medical and Health Officer, Meghalaya Police. Baruah was instrumental in promoting Satya Sai Baba organisation in the North East as a president for a considerable period of time. His wife pre deceased him. He is survived by three sons and two daughters.
