SHILLONG: The MLA of Mawphlang, SK Sunn expressed concern over the delay in the implementation of Mawphlang-Mawngap- Marbisu Combined Water Supply Scheme even as the residents from Mawphlang are reeling under water shortage.

He added that it was in March 2017 that the scheme got administrative approval. The scheme was sanctioned at a total cost of more than Rs 30 crore.

“The scheme only needs implementation and I urge the Chief Minister to intervene,” he said.

Some of the villages who are getting benefit from the scheme are Mawkohmon, Nongrum, Dongiew, Mission and Lad Um Risain. At Mawngap, it will benefit villages such as Mawsmai, Lumparing, Maw Kharshiing, Dukan, Mawngap Rim and Khliehshnong.

The scheme will also extend upto Lait Pynter, Mawshaton, Sunn informed.

On the delay in the implementation of the scheme, he said, “Probably, the government is still new, but I still look forward to the implementation of the scheme.”
