SHILLONG: Congress MLA PT Sawkmie said on Tuesday most of the voters in Ranikor want the Congress because they still love the party.
Sawkmie, who was in Ranikor on the last day of campaigning, rejected speculations that five-time MLA Danggo would have an edge over others and said, “In areas where Danggo was strong, people are not happy with him since they know that Danggo left Congress for his personal benefit and not for the people.”
“The party MLAs, workers and even the opposition leader (Mukul Sangma) have worked very hard in the constituency,” he added.
When asked about South Tura polls, Sawkmie said the by-poll will not be a cakewalk for Chief Minister Conrad Sangma as people still have love and affection for the Congress.
“The Congress is making the best efforts to win the election in both the seats,” he said.
