SHILLONG: The farmers selling their produces in Bara Bazaar are facing harassment as they alleged that the dealers show less weight of vegetables which are brought by the villagers.
According to the farmers, this exploitation has affected them as the dealers get the benefits.
Opposing the harassment to the farmers, the Hill Farmers’ Union (HFU) on Wednesday carried out an inspection at Bara Bazar (Iewduh) in the city.
The farmers objected to the rampant deduction (8 to 10 kg) of their produces leading to severe loss.
HFU president Commander Shampliang, after the inspection, said the matter will be taken up with district administration for intervention.
