Four held in twin rape cases in Assam

Goalpara/Morigaon (Assam): A 19-year old woman was allegedly gangraped in Assam’s Goalpara district and a minor girl was raped by a 60-year old in the state’s Morigaon district on Thursday and four persons have been arrested in connection with the two cases, police said on Friday.
The woman was allegedly gangraped by her friend and three others on Thursday night in an agriculture field at Tukura Part-III village in Goalpara district, according to its superintendent of police Amitabh Sinha.
Villagers detained a man and the woman and informed the police early on Friday. The police rushed to the spot and rescued the victim who was found in a drugged state, Sinha said.
During investigation it was found that the woman had come to Tukura with her friend, who hails from Barpeta district and were then taken by another person to his maternal uncle’s house in the village for Eid celebrations. (PTI)
