Nongpoh: The Block Development Officer of Umling C&RD Block, V.A Hynniewta on Friday inaugurated the water reservoir tank and check dam at Sohlaitrim village in Ri Bhoi.
The reservoir and the check dam were constructed under the MEGHA-LAMP at the estimated cost of Rs 2 lakh and was implemented by the Basin Development Unit, Ri Bhoi District.
The inaugural function was also attended by the EAC and nodal officer of BDU, Ri Bhoi, D. Kharshiing, Soil and Water Conservation Beat Officer, Shimti Mallai, SDO PHE, Nongpoh Division, A. Kurbah and local villagers of Sohlaitrim. It was presided by the local headman of Sohlaitrim, Holand Kharrngi.
Addressing the function as chief guest, Hynniewta lauded the cooperation rendered by the village Durbar and local villagers and said their cooperation resulted in the successful construction of the water reservoir tank and check dam in the village.
