Weekend mishaps leave 1 dead, seven injured

SHILLONG: On Sunday around 1.44 pm, one Nelson Nongbet (21) from Tyrsad went for a swim and drowned. He was unconscious at the scene. CPR, first aid and oxygen were given and he was immediately shifted to Mawphlang CHC by 108 Mawphlang based ambulance. The victim was declared dead by the doctor on duty.
Again on Sunday, a bike skidded and rolled over at Rilbong near Umshyrpi bridge around 12:00 am where 3 were injured. The victims are Eddie S Nengnong (23) Joe Lyngdoh (20) and Keveinstar Langstieh (20).
First aid and wound care were done on all three and they were shifted to Shillong Civil hospital by 108 ambulance.
On Sunday around 3.38 pm, Ityngkai Nongsiej (23) met with an accident at Mawlyndep when the scooty she was riding was hit by a Bolero which fled after the mishap. The victim sustained fracture in her right leg, wound care and first aid was done and the victim was shifted to Super Care Hospital by 108 Mawryngkneng based ambulance.
In another case on Sunday, Frederick Majaw (25) met with an accident near Sumer around 5:08 pm when the Alto Car he was driving skidded and hit a nearby shop. Wound care and first aid was done and the victim was shifted to Umsning CHC by 108 Bhoirymbong based ambulance.
On Saturday, Dawan Lyngdoh (32) and Sikar Rasmut (27) who were travelling from Jowai to Shillong in a Cilario car met with an accident near Pomlaher Main road around 1:27 pm when their car hit an Alto car coming from the opposite side. Both victims sustained injuries. Wound care and first aid were done and the victims were shifted to Mawryngkneng PHC by 108 Mawryngkneng based ambulance.
