SHILLONG: The much delayed education policy is finally ready to be approved by the Cabinet.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said the department has done everything and now it will be taken up before the Cabinet.
“By September15, I hope everything will be in place if the Cabinet does not ask for any changes in the policy,” Rymbui told The Shillong Times.
Earlier, a few additional points were added to the draft education policy to be included as plan of action in the final document. One suggestion is to have periodical auditing of the functioning of government schools. A task force that was studying the draft policy had been asked to fine-tune and finalise it within 45 days.
The 21-member task force was constituted by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government and notified on March 21 this year. Educationists along with officials from the education department are part and parcel of the task force.
