NONGPOH: Nongpoh Postal Office launched the India Post Payments Bank on Saturday. The initiative was launched by Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdeit in the presence of Nongpoh postal officials.
Addressing the gathering, Khymdeit lauded the effort of the Centre in rendering better service to the people, especially in rural areas. “As one of the commitments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Digital India, this programme is an initiative rolled out to ease the burden of the people in term of banking system as the service will be provided by the Postal offices at every doorstep and at a click of a mobile phone,” Khymdeit said.
Nongpoh Postal Officer L Nongbri also highlighted that the programme will largely benefit the local people as people can open a zero balance account in any of the postal branches across the state.
