Clean and Green Village Mission launched in Assam

GUWAHATI: ‘Forest Man of India’ Jadav Payeng  has launched ‘Clean and Green Village Mission’ at Torajan in Tinsukia district of Assam. It is an initiative of Chief Minister of Assam arbananda Sonowal.

Torajan is among 33 villages in as many districts  in the state where the Mission is going to be launched with an objective of making Assam one of the cleanest states of India. The programme at Torajan was organised under the MyGov Assam initiative in association with PHE, District Administration and Sports and Youth Affairs departments.

In his address, Jadav Payeng renewed his appeal to the people to take up responsibility for protection of forest and environment. “A plastic-free environment is essential for the human race to sustain on this earth,” asserted the Padma Shri award winner.

Tree saplings and sports items were distributed by Forest and Sports and Youth Affairs departments respectively among the villagers on the occasion. The local villagers wholeheartedly took part in the programme and promised to carry forward the Chief Minister’s vision of ‘Clean and Green Village’.
