Local holiday
The Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration (A) Department has informed that all state government offices and all revenue and magisterial courts and educational institutions in East Khasi Hills District shall be closed as local holiday on September 18 on account of Unitarian Anniversary Day.

Polling stations
The District Election Officer of West Khasi Hills has informed that the lists of polling stations for Parliamentary/Assembly Constituency of 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai-Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) have been published. The lists of polling stations and group of voters noted against each polling station are available for inspection in the office of the DEO, Nongstoin and offices of the ERO/AEROs of the respective constituency.

Rice release
The DC (Supply), West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin informed that rice under NFSA scheme, 2013 for the month of August, 2018 quota, for AAY, Priority Household PHH), Non-NFSA and Buffer Stock Non-NFSA for the months of March, April, May and June, 2018 within Nongstoin Sadar Sub-Division whole sale centre has been released.

Office bearers
The general meeting of the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Forum of Williamnagar, East Garo Hills was held recently where its new office bearers were elected. The meeting elected Putul R Marak as president, Prahlad Sangma as vice president, Clement B Sangma as general secretary besides other executive members.

NCC commander
Brigadier P.M Bali of Sikh Regiment has taken as Group Commander of the NCC group Headquarter Meghalaya based at Shillong on September 1 while Brigadier Vineet Sood proceeded on superannuation. Brigadier Bali has varied experience of service in prestigious command, staff and instructional appointments including in counter insurgency environment.

Programme postponed
The Sawangka festival which was supposed to be organised by the Department of English, St. Mary’s College on September 6-7 has been postponed to later dates due to unavoidable circumstances.

Office bearers
Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association, East Khasi Hills, held a general meeting at Khasi National Dorbar Hall for Mylliem Block. In the meeting, the association also elected office bearers. The elected members are Ksanborlang Pathaw as president, vice president is Manbha Nongbet, secretary is Steffie Kharbithai and other executive members. The executive committee of the MUPSTA will be held at New Hope Restaurant, Barik at 11 am on Saturday.

Foundation day
Matri Sangha’s Daya-moyee Kali Mandir, R.R. Colony, Shillong will celebrate its Annual Foundation Day Puja on the Dayamoyee Kali Mandir premises from Friday to Sunday.
