GUWAHATI: The Met office here has predicted heavy rainfall activity over the north-eastern states during the next four to five days.
In a statement on Saturday, it informed that a monsoon trough is likely to shift northwards from September 11 and continue to run across the northeastern states till September 14.
Strong southerly/southwesterly winds carrying moisture from Bay of Bengal are likely to prevail over the north eastern states from September 10 to 12. The current meteorological analysis and numerical model guidance suggests there will be increase in the spatial coverage as well as the intensity of the rainfall activity from day two onwards with widespread rainfall activity during the next four to five days.
The Met office forecast is quite ominous as it comes at a time when states like Nagaland and Assam are still grappling with floods, landslides and river erosion.
