SHILLONG: Williamnagar Government College Students’ Union (WGCSU) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday to remind the government of their demand for the development of the college.
Yestarbirth D Sangma, general secretary of WGCSU said the memorandum seeks the appointment of vice-principal for the college, immediate appointment of lecturers in the vacant posts, introduction of new departments in the under graduate level such as Sociology and Philosophy, upgradation of college building, permanent boundary wall, creation and appointment of head assistant, absorption of casual employees, introduction of Science stream at degree level, new hostel buildings and teachers’ quarter.
‘We have been demanding it from the successive governments of the state but it is intentionally being ignored. Hence, we met the chief minister again and requested him to fulfill our demands at the earliest. He has assured us that his government will take necessary steps and we are eagerly waiting for it,’ he said.
