SHILLONG: As part of the upcoming Measles- Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC), the East and West Jaintia Hills District Medical & Health Officer has been conducting several orientation and sensitization training programmes in collaboration with the District Administration for medical officers, ANMs, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers on the importance of Measles Rubella (MR) vacination.
In a press meeting chaired by the East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, the DC informed that the District Administration has formed a District Task Force and that various meetings have also been conducted with the stakeholders comprising various departments, school representatives, religious leaders, Daloi, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong and NGOs.
The DC also stressed on the importance of the campaign and urged the members to take each role assigned to them seriously in order to make the programme a successful one.
Block Task Force meetings were also conducted in Blocks under the BDOs and SDO.
Sensitization programmes were organised for school principals and nodal teachers, headmen, NGOs and women’s groups. Parent and teacher meetings were conducted in every school in the district. As of now more than 80 percent of the schools have been sensitized.
The Measles-Rubella Campaign is a special campaign to vaccinate all children from the age group of 9 months to 15 years and is schedule to launch by the end of September this year.
