NONGPOH: Nongpoh legislator Mayralborn Syiem inaugurated two government schemes, Community Drinking Water and Sanitary Complex, at Umsaw Nongbri in Ri Bhoi on Monday.
The Community Drinking Water and Sanitary Complex will be constructed under MEGHA-LAMP and Swacch Bharat Mission, respectively, at a total cost of Rs. 2 lakh each.
Speaking at the event, he said, “With the inauguration of these two schemes, the village will no more have to face the difficulties due to shortage of proper drinking water as had been experienced in the past.”
He further added that the villagers should also co-operate and take care of these government schemes for their own benefit.
Syiem urged the villagers to adopt cleanliness not just in their own houses but outside too. He also said rampant destruction of forests should be stopped at all cost to preserve natural sources of water.
