SHILLONG: The Shillong youth wing of the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement has demanded that the state government conduct inspection of all water sources and reservoirs.
In the wake of the incident at Nongkseh, president of KHNAM youth wing Thomas Passah in a statement issued here raised concerns about safety and security of water reservoirs in the state, “which should be properly guarded”.
He pointed to Section 17(1)(a) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, which says the State Board should ensure prevention, control and abatement of water sources.
The KHNAM youth wing condemned the incident at Nongkseh in which miscreants threw mobil into the reservoir on Monday.
