State waits for Rs 100 cr to finish water supply project

SHILLONG: The state government is awaiting the Centre’s response to its request for additional fund amounting to Rs 100 crore for completing the third phase of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme.
Informing this, minister in-charge PHE Samlin Malngiang said the proposal for the additional amount was sent in May.
The physical progress of the third phase of the scheme is around 70 per cent.
With a view to augment water supply to areas covered under GSWSS (Phases I and II) and the remaining three urban centres – Pynthorumkhrah, Nongmynsong and Madanrting – GSWSS (Phase III) is being implemented.
