SHILLONG: SELCO Foundation, in partnership with Don Bosco Technical Centre, is supporting a Solar Technician and Micro Entrepreneur Training Programme as an addition to the electrician trade, in two different Don Bosco Technical Centres across the North East region.
The objective of the training programme is to build the capacity of the students and enhance their skills in all around aspects of technical, social and entrepreneurial grounds.
To provide with a better picture and knowledge based scenario a workshop on Energy Entrepreneurship and Innovation was conducted at the Don Bosco Technical Centre here for the existing trainees of the batch on Wednesday.
Fr Cyril Tirkey, Principal, Don Bosco Technical Centre, encouraged all the participants to think out of the box and start their own venture for a sustainable ecosystem building with the use of renewable energies like solar and other forms of energies.
He also introduced SELCO and its work culture followed by the objectives of supporting Don Bosco Technical Centres in terms of technical and entrepreneurial aspects.
Gautam Boro, Skill Development and Training Manager from SELCO Foundation, was present as the resource person at the workshop. He talked about renewable energy scenario and the opportunities that can be grasped for income generation such as entrepreneurship, innovation and energy enterprises.
