SHILLONG: Congress MLA and Opposition Chief Whip P.T Sawkmie has supported the demand of the Khasi Authors Society to include both Khasi and Garo languages in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sawkmie has urged all the MLAs of the State to support the cause.
Sawkmie said it is high time to raise the issue in New Delhi by having a peaceful protest in the Parliament premises so that the demand can be met.
The Congress legislator said that though Shillong MP Vincent Pala had in the past raised the issue in Parliament, the Centre is yet to give ear to this genuine demand.
