GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday felicitated young shooter from the state, Hriday Hazarika for clinching gold in the junior men’s 10 m air rifle event at the ISSF World Championship in Changwon Korea at the progranmme held at Shilpgram here.
Hriday Hazarika hails from Narayanpur in Lakhimpur District of Assam. He is a son of Dr Sarat Hazarika and Iva Hazarika. Sonowal feted him with a Gamocha, a Sarai, a citation and a cheque of Rs 25 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal while congratulating Hriday Hazarika on his extraordinary achievement in the recently concluded International Shooting Sports Federation Tournament said, “People of Assam is proud your achievement which will be a source of inspiration to the youth of the state. You have won our hearts”.
Hailing his meteoric rise as a world class shooter from the state, Chief Minister Sonowal assured all possible help and support from the State government in his journey to become a world class shooter at all levels. He also assured all help so that he can earn a medal in 2020 Tokyo Olympic.
