Assam police arrest accused in murder of border resident

SHILLONG: Assam police on Thursday arrested the accused in the killing of a Khasi resident at Umsohphoh village under Block-II in the Ri Bhoi border.
Assam police, after registering the case, arrested Romesh Thapa for the assault and subsequent death of Tyngshain Mukhim.
They wanted to take the body to Assam for postmortem examination.
However, after a prolonged discussion, it was decided that the body be taken to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for autopsy and that the report be shared with Assam Police as they have also registered a case and taken up the investigation.
The FIR in the case was submitted at Umiam police station through Circle Inspector (South) Umiam.
