Cop guarding CM house “kills self”

Guwahati: An Assam Police constable who was doing duty at the barrack of the official residence of the chief minister here is suspected to have committed suicide by firing himself with his AK 47 service on Sunday evening, police sources said.

The police constable of 10 Assam Police Battalion, sources said, was identified as Sukleshwar Kathar. He received bullet injuries and was immediately rushed to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) at Panbazar where doctors declared him brought dead.

The constable reportedly hails from Morigaon and was doing duty at the Brahmaputra Guest House, which is the official residence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, for the past two months.
