National Nutrition Month rally organised in Sohra

SHILLONG: The office of the Block Development Officer, Shella Bholaganj C & RD Block in convergence with the office of the CDPO, Shella Bholganj ICDS Project, CHC Sohra, Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Sohra and Office of the E.E. PHE, Sohra organised a rally on Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month) on the theme “Har Ghar Poshan Tyohar” which means “Every Household a Celebration of Nutrition”.
The rally was flagged off by A S Mukhim, BDO, Shella Bholaganj C&RD Block, Sohra. The programme saw the participation of students and teachers from various schools located in and around Sohra region, Anganwadi workers, SHGs, doctors from CHC, Sohra, staff from offices of the Block Development Officer (BDO), Shella Bholaganj C&RD Block, ICDS, PHE, SDSEO, Sohra and various leaders of the community.
The objective of the rally was to create awareness to the general public, through the involvement of students, on the importance of nutrition to children, especially amongst the age group of 6 months to 6 years, pregnant & nursing mothers and adolescent girls as well as awareness on immunization and sanitation in the community to eradicate malnutrition.
Following the rally, a Poshaan Mela was held which was addressed by B S Hek, CDPO, Shella, Dr. K Kharnaior, M&HO, Sohra CHC and A S Mukhim, BDO, Shella Bholaganj C&RD Block along with discussions on the importance of nutrition.
There were also demonstrations of the growth chart, weighing of children and various cultural events based on the theme of nutrition.
