SHILLONG: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has taken exception to shaming of students by certain individuals on social media.
Recently, posts showing students drinking and smoking were uploaded on social media, including WhatsApp, which have irked the minister.
According to Rymbui, instead of bringing the matter to the heads of respective schools for counselling and taking corrective steps, people have resorted to large scale sharing of pictures thereby shaming students in public.
“Who does not commit mistakes? We are here to correct them. This does not mean that students should be put to shame and this is condemnable,” Rymbui said.
