SHILLONG: The chief advisor of 17 North Shillong Constituency Committee of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), Mehio Roy Suting requested the central body of KHNAM to dissolve the party in the constituency.

In a statement issued here, Suting said there were attempts made to mislead the people about the regional political party and to prevent misinformation about the party.

He requested the central body of the party to dissolve the party at the constituency and to strengthen the party.

Suting also said the 17 North Shillong Constituency Committee expressed unhappiness over the demand by a section of the KHNAM members asking the president of the party, Pyndap Saibon to step down.

Of late, KHANM is facing tussle in the party over poll candidates in which lone KHNAM MLA/MDC Adelbert Nongrum decided to stand by Glenbert Khongwir as candidate from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah while he is on the lookout for a suitable candidate for Jaiaw constituency.

Nongrum had alleged the selection of candidates was not done in all fairness.

The central body had agreed that Thomas Passah and Rocky Hek to be the party’s KHADC poll candidates from Jaiaw and Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah, respectively.
