SHILLONG: The National People’s Party has claimed that the state Congress, which is already witnessing desertions, will soon experience more jolts.
NPP state president WR Kharlukhi told reporters on Wednesday that the exit of veteran Congress leader DD Lapang from the party “is not an end to its dwindling force as bigger jolts will hit it in a month’s time”.
The Congress has already lost two important leaders recently, MM Danggo and Lapang. Kharlukhi had predicted ‘a major blow’ to the state Congress after the exit of Danggo and it turned out to be true.
The NPP leader said the Congress, which is like “fish out of water”, has lost the political direction and is on its way to self-destruction.
On Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma’s recent criticisms, Kharlukhi said he was a “bad loser” and hence making such statements.
