SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) is awaiting a word from the All India Congress Committee on the resignation of former Chief Minister, DD Lapang which was submitted by Lapang in New Delhi.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday after a meeting which discussed the resignation of DD Lapang, MPCC president, Dr Celestine Lyngdoh said that there was no communication from the AICC on the matter till now.

Lyngdoh however said that going by the body language of Lapang, it seemed he was in no mood to return.

Denying the allegations of Lapang that old leaders are being phased out, he said that the allegations were totally wrong as the leaders who are being allegedly phased out in the party are actively working in New Delhi.

He also said that the DD Lapang did not contest the last Assembly elections due to his poor health and he was the one who had blessed the new MLA from Nongpoh, Mayralborn Syiem
