Noida: Two private security guards were buldgeoned to death by unidentified assailants in an attempted robbery at a bank here on Friday, police said. The incident took place at the Circle Office of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Noida’s Sector 1 between 2 am and 4 am when two masked men barged into the bank, senior police officials said.
“Two security personnel of a private agency were in the guard room of the bank when the accused attacked them on their head with a baton, leading to their deaths,” Gautam Buddh Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Pal Sharma said. “The men then tried to break into the strong room of the bank, located in the basement of the building, but failed,” he added.
Unable to loot any money, they left the bank after some time and took away one of the digital video recorders (DVRs) of the CCTV to clear any leads about them. “However, there was another CCTV installed in the guard’s room where the killings took place and the police have checked the footage on that for the probe,” the SSP said.
The police have identified some suspects and investigation is underway to uncover the entire plot. One of the peons of the bank, who reached the bank in the morning found the bodies of the two guards (PTI)
