GUWAHATI: Meghalaya thumped Arunachal Pradesh by a huge margin of 256 runs in Round V- Plate group of Vijay Hazare Trophy played at Anand, Gujarat on Monday.
Electing to bat first, a dominant Meghalaya piled up a mammoth total of 317 losing four wickets in 43 overs after seven overs were curtailed due to overnight rain.
Punit Bisht continued with his blistering form scoring a valiant 135 runs (90 balls) supported by in form Yogesh remaining unbeaten on 56 (off 46 balls) while Jason Lamare and Gurinder chipped in with 42 and 35 not out respectively.
Doria claimed two wickets for Arunachal conceding 49 runs.
In reply, Arunachal were bundled out for a paltry 61 in 26 overs. The highlight of the Meghalaya bowling was the fiery spell of medium pacer Abhay Negi who scalped seven wickets, the highest of the tournament so far, conceding only 16 runs in 6 overs.
He was supported by Lakhan who took 2 wickets for 21 runs.
Meghalaya will now clash with Bihar at Vadodara on September 26.
