TURA: Two youths from Garo Hills have been selected to represent Meghalaya in the 35th National Youth Basketball Championships to be held from September 30 to October 7 at Udaipur in Rajasthan.
Sudeepan G Momin, a class 9 student from Stephen Memorial Secondary School and Dereasha Chekambe Ch Marak (Class VIII) from St Xaviers Secondary School, Tura were selected during the Inter-School basketball Tournament organized by the District Basketball Association at the Christian Girls Higher Secondary School in Tura from August 27 to 31.
While Sudeepan hails from matchakolgre locality in New Tura, Dereasha comes from the remote village of Mitap Gori Patal under Chokpot in South Garo Hills District. The two were given further training in Shillong and are currently on their way to participate in the prestigious event.
