JOWAI: The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council MDC Marki Mulieh tendered his resignation on Friday.
In his resignation letter addressed to the BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh, Mulieh said “It is a hard decision to leave the party but due to pressure from my supporters, I have decided to resign.” Mulieh also informed that in a meeting held recently, he was told by the supporters to quit BJP and contest the council election 2019 from any other party.
He has won the last council election from a UDP ticket and later joined the BJP along with his uncle, former Jowai MLA, Singh Mulieh.
Marki was also appointed as the district president of BJP, West Jaintia Hills.
