Air fest
To commemorate the 86th anniversary of the IAF, a festival ‘Air Fest 2018’ under the aegis of Headquarters Eastern Air Command will be held at ALG ground, Upper Shillong on October 6 and 7. The fest will be open to one and all from 10 am to 4 pm with no entry fee. Various activities like fly past, Para sailing, static display of aircraft, slithering operation of the Special IAF Force ‘Garud’ and performance by the Air Force Band will be the main highlights of the event. Food stalls will also be set up at the venue.
Dry day
The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has declared October 2 as dry day in the entire District on account of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. All wholesellers, IMFL retailers, bars and outstills shall remain closed on the above mentioned date.
Gratitude
The principal and staff of Glakyn Academy Higher Secondary School, Pokseh North, Shillong expressed their gratefulness to the government, doctor and staff of Rynjah Dispensary in particular for having taken the initiative to administer the Measles/Rubella vaccination to the students of the school. The authorities of the school also thanked the students and parents for their co-operation with the programme.
Convention
11th Zonal Youth Convention was held in Baghmara Parish from September 28 to 30 for the youth of Baghmara Zone. Around 220 youth registered and participated.
Cycle yatra
The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cycling Association will organise the Cycle Yatra at 10 am on October 2 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The route for the yatra is starting from State Central Library towards IGP, Kachari, Deputy Commissioner Office, AG Office, Post Office, BSNL Office, Barik Point, Malki Point, Dhanketi, St.Edmund’s, Fire Brigade towards Laitumkhrah, Don Bosco Point, Dhankheti, malki, Barik, Civil Hospital, IGP/State Central Library.
