SHILLONG: As the party touches the 50th year of its existence this year, HSPDP president K P Pangniang said the regional party is going strong and recalled the contributions of its founder late Hoping Stone Lyngdoh.
Speaking at the general council meeting of HSPDP-East Khasi Hills District at Dinam Hall on Thursday, Pangniang spoke about party’s 50 years’ journey, expressing contentment that the party has been vocal against uranium mining and on resolving the boundary issue in the state.
Pangniang said, “The party is making preparations for the celebration of 50 years and we are trying to complete the souvenir of the Golden Jubilee by November 10. The souvenir will contain agenda, principles of the party and its services to the public”.
He said the party has not discussed anything about the upcoming Lok Sabha polls or common candidate.
Former minister Martle Mukhim has taken charge as the president of HSPDP-EKHD.
On the other hand, the HSPDP said it is still waiting for documents from former president Ardent Basaiawmoit on the expenditure of the party during the Assembly elections.
Chief organiser, Samlin Malngiang told reporters, “We should have sent the documents to the Election Commission of India but we faced difficulty following the resignation of former president and hence we sought some time from the Commission.” He added that the party will soon meet Basaiawmoit on the matter.
