Lalatendu Mohanti, Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya frontier, has already sensitised all the battalions to be more alert and foil such attempts of arms smuggling from India to Bangladesh.
The BSF said in a statement on Saturday that on October 5 around 7.30 pm, the force got information about concentration of a few arms smugglers who were to deliver arms to their associates in Bangladesh through some unknown cattle smugglers.
The BSF party tried to encircle the area but they managed to escape.
On search of the area, the BSF recovered five ccountry made 12 bore single barrel guns, three cartridges, five cattle, one mobile, two SIM cards, four torch lights and two knives.
The BSF said as per the information, this unknown group is active for extortion purpose and efforts were being made to establish their identity.
