TURA: Former Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma has urged party members to spread the Congress’ ideology of ‘love and compassion’ to save the country from the perils of disunity and disharmony.
Sangma was speaking at the MPCC meet for Garo Hills region at Congress Bhavan in Tura which was also attended by MPCC President, Celestine Lyngdoh, MPCC Working President, James Lyngdoh, MLAs, Winnerson D Sangma, Dikkanchi D Shira and Miani D Shira and MDC Stevie Marak besides other district and block Congress leaders.
Sangma said that it was only the ideology of the Congress which can make the country strong and vibrant and lamented that the very basic ideology is under threat under the present Government at the centre. He expressed happiness and satisfaction over the programme of outreaching to every individual to inseminate the principles of the party and to enlighten the misrule of the Centre Government, which is giving space to the RSS to spread hatred and mistrust among the people.
President of the MPCC, Celestine Lyngdoh while highlighting the restrictions put on the people by the BJP sponsored RSS, based on religion, caste, food habits etc pointed out that to save the country from all these evils, the Congress Party would have to be strengthened. Lyngdoh also urged the party leaders and workers to work hard in the upcoming Parliamentary Election to ensure that the party achieves success.
Among others who also spoke during the programme included MLA, Winnerson D Sangma and TCCC President, Selma D Shira.
