Rymbui highlights need to conserve wildlife

SHILLONG: Forests and Environment Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Monday underlined the need to conserve of environment and wildlife in the state.

He was speaking at valedictory function of Wildlife Week celebration under the theme ‘Big cats – Predators under Threat’ –at Moreau Institute of Integral Training and Research Society. 

“We need animals more than they need us,” he said.

Additional Chief Secretary, PW Ingty appealed to the people to make it a responsibility and to take pledge to protect and conserve wildlife.

At the valedictory function, a poster of fauna of Nongkhyllem wildlife sanctuary was released.

At the same time, two community reserve forests, Umsum Pitcher Plant Community Reserve Forest, Mawkyrwat and Pdah Kyndeng Community Reserve, Nongpoh were awarded.
