Baby league soccer in Assam by Nov end

GUWAHATI: Assam is poised to witness its first ever structured youth league soccer dedicated to children.  Sportscraft Management, a leading sports management company dedicated to grassroots development, in association with Guwahati City Football Club (GCFC) and the Assam Football Association on Tuesday is organising the first season of the Greater Guwahati Baby League (GGBL) from the end of November.

“The league, which will run for four months and is open for children in the age group of six to 13 years, will be organised under rules and regulations of the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) ambitious Baby League project and will aim to inculcate football culture in the state,” Sportscraft and GCFC’s co-founder Darick Ranjan Deka told reporters here on Tuesday.

“GGBL has already got the green signal from AIFF as the league is registered in the baby league app and all necessary documentation is provided via AFA to the governing body of Indian football,” Deka said.

The participants will be divided in to four age categories (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13) and they will play every weekend just like any professional league.

According to the organisers, all schools, clubs, societies, companies, individuals of greater Guwahati area can participate in the league by forming teams of the given age categories under rules and regulations laid down by AIFF.
