SHILLONG: GVK EMRI 108 Emergency Management Service has said there had been a drop in traffic accident cases in September.
In a statement issued on Monday, GVK informed that the previous month witnessed a 1.2 percent drop in traffic accidents from the annual average in the current year where a total of 1,279 road accident cases were handled from January to September.
The 108 Emergency Service handled 1,507 emergency cases in September with 65.9 per cent in rural areas.
The emergency response centre handled 7,224 calls out of which 18 percent were emergency calls.
Region wise, emergency calls comprised 87 percent from Khasi Hills and 13 percent originating from Garo Hills. Of the 533 Inter facility transfer cases in the month, 27.7 percent was pregnancy related emergencies. A total of 3859 pregnancy related cases were attended to from January to September 2018.
A total of 139 acute abdomen emergency cases, 132 fever and infection cases 39 cardiac cases and 31 neonate cases were also handled in the month.
A total of 1594 lives were saved and 138 deliveries assisted so far and an average of 77 percent cases were admitted in government hospitals.
The services have maintained a reach time of 18 minutes in urban and 27 minutes in rural areas.
The call to hospital reach time in urban areas was maintained at 43 minutes and stood at 1 hour and 16 minutes in rural areas.
The uptime has been maintained at 97.8 percent.
