UDP invites applications for council poll candidates

SHILLONG/MAWKYRWAT: The United Democratic Party (UDP), Nongthymmai circle recently held its general meeting and constituted the election committee for the upcoming district council polls.
The meeting fixed October 12 as the last date for submission of applications for candidature. The UDP Mawkyrwat Circle has also decided to go ahead with contesting the upcoming council election and has invited applications from aspiring candidates.
UDP Mawkyrwat circle president Anvil Lyngdoh said the decision has been taken during a recent executive committee meeting.
“We have decided to strengthen the overall functionaries of the party and also form an election committee to select the candidate for the council election,” Lyngdoh said.
Aspiring candidates have been requested to contact the chairman of the circle election committee, Hapbok Lyngkhoi, or secretary Synshar Lyngkhoi and applications should be submitted on or before October 15 at 12 pm. Meanwhile, the UDP Nongthymmai circle in the general meeting elected new office bearers for the period 2018-21. KM Roy Allya is the chief advisor and president is Jemino Mawthoh. For the women’s wing, new president is Margaret Khyriem and working president is Nebimon Lyngwa Rapthap.
Kersuk Cajee has been named president of the Youth Wing and Lam Challam is the working president.
