India beat Japan 1-0, create hat-trick of wins

JOHOR BAHRU:Indian junior hockey team went on to create a hat-trick beating Japan 1-0 in a close fought encounter and continued its winning momentum in the ongoing Sultan of Johor Cup on Tuesday.
Earlier, India outclassed New Zealand 7-1 and then won against hosts Malaysia 2-1. India next play defending champions Australia on Wednesday. Captain Mandip Mor was the lone goal scorer for India as they really had to sweat hard against Japan.
In the first quarter the match was disrupted for some time due to rain. India missed a chance of penalty corner in the first quarter. In the second quarter efforts were put on for goals but remained dry and till half time was declared both the teams remained goalless. (UNI)
