SHILLONG: The half kilometer road between Nongrimmaw and Lumsohra near Umpling Road (Goraline stretch) now will have a new road as informed by the Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun on Wednesday.
The dorbar in a statement, said that they have been working hard to ease the hardships, especially of the residents of Goraline.
Three Rangbah Shnong of Laitumkhrah also appreciated the efforts of Deputy Chief Minister in- charge of PWD Prestone Tynsong by saying that he has spared no efforts to see that the road is repaired.
The statement also added that that through the efforts of the Chief Engineer , PWD (Roads) Bruce Marak, together with his senior officers, came for a spot inspection to see that the work is expedited at the earliest possible. It also cited reasons for the delay.
According to the Rangbah Shnong, the first reason which delayed the project is the fact that this is no longer a repair work alone. Due to the deplorable condition of the road, it has been necessitated for a complete new construction.
According to the Dorbar Shnong, this stretch of the road has a small and shallow drain only on one side of the road but the new road will have drains on both sides.
It further stated that care has to be taken so that the water connections of the residents is not disrupted. The water connection is from both Municipal and PHE.
The Rangbah Shnong also appreciated the generosity of one family in particular, F. Kharmawphlang, as she donated a portion of her land for widening the road.
The Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun also urged the commuters to cooperate and bear with the inconvenience.
