Mawroh Recreation Park inaugurated in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: The Minister In-charge of Tourism, Metbah Lyngdoh on Friday inaugurated Mawroh Recreation Park cum View Point in Ri Bhoi which is one of the newly converted tourist spots.
With an aim to promoting it as a tourist destination to promote local economy, the Dorbar Shnong of Mawroh village through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has converted the view point and recreation park as a tourist attraction in line with the reputed Marngar Lake and Rongmasek in the district.
Addressing the function as the chief guest, Lyngdoh exhorted the involvement of the community in welcoming tourists to the district citing that tourism is the best option when it comes to promoting the local economy.
The minister also lauded the Dorbar Shnong of Mawroh for converting the village into a tourist destination and said it is through their dedication that MGNREGS was able to convert it into a tourist destination.
“Mawroh recreational Park cum View Point is situated at a good location. The locals must respect the tourist to increase flow of tourist which can in turn promote the local economy,” Lyngdoh said.
Replying to the memorandum submitted by the Dorbar Shnong for further beautification of park and view point comprising of the retaining wall, home stay and children park, Lyngdoh gave a positive respond and assured that he will instructed the Tourism department officers to look into the matter.
